You can put your car on the train for $14, small motorcycle for $5 and Big bike for $10. (but sometimes only between Phnom Penh and SihanoukVille) You can reserve a seat on-line. But best to go to the train station ahead of time and get your tickets. Look for the 2 tallest buildings in Phnom Penh, and you’ll be near the train station. Phnom Penh Train Station Open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. Saturday and Sunday from 6am to 4pm.

Note: the train schedules and options are not guaranteed, and often change. Can arrive or leave late.

Bus and Mini-Van – Buses and mini-vans leave Phnom Penh starting at 8am to 5:30pm. Tickets are around $10 for the buses and vans. It’s about a 2.5 hour ride or more. (if you get out of downtown Phnom Penh quickly). Any hotel or travel shop should be able to get you a ticket. The buses stop at their own offices in downtown Kampot, and you can get out ahead of the last stop if you want. It’s only a 5 minute walk to anywhere downtown… You can also get a Tuk Tuk (a cart for 1 – 4 people from the bus station. Use PassApp to get the best prices (and they should get you to the right place the first time)

Car – You can get a private taxi to Kampot any time you like, and you get door-to-door service. A whole car costs about $50, and a shared taxi from Phnom Penh from Psar Dang Kor for $10 a person. You’ll have to wait until the car is full with other passengers before they leave though.

From Kep, Cambodia

It’s a half hour ride from Kep to Kampot. You can take your own motorcycle as many do, or get a car for $15, or Tuk Tuk, up to 3 people, for about $10.

You can rent baby automatic motorcycles in Kampot or Kep for about $5 a day, and $1 of gas gets you 1 hour drive time. But you have to return it to the place you rented it from.

Driving’s pretty easy here. If you’re coming from Vietnam, you will probably have to get to Kep first and then onwards to Kampot.
